Days Gone By Photos
On Saturday 29th of June 2013 we held the Park Centenary Gala day and what a day it was! There was everything from a traction engine,horse carriage rides, funfair stalls, birds of prey,vintage cars, a children’s entertainer, and even a brass band!! Even the Scottish weather behaved for a change and that famous West of Scotland rain stayed away! Centenary The day saw hundreds of people turn out to enjoy themselves - and they did! We even had some dignitaries - the South Lanarkshire Provost attended along with other various councillors and MP’s.The Friends of the Park Committee Members were dressed in period costume from 100 years ago, and very splendid they looked too! There was lots of entertainment down at the bandstand including the Co-op Brass Band,Piggery Brae,the Rock and Pop Chorus,and The Rutherglen Repertory Theatre.The Committee would like to thank everyone who

The photographs in Gallery4 show the park and Cambuslang in years gone by and as you will see it has changed! The collection is dedicated to the memory of Gordon Dinnie who died in January 2010. His collection was posted with the kind permission of Mrs Senga Dinnie and Mr Ed Boyle, and are on display on Ed Boyles website along with many more. Friends of Cambuslang Park were delighted last year to receive a grant from the Big Lottery Families and Communities Fund to allow 6 volunteers to train as Forest School Leaders. Some of the volunteers are from Project 31 and they are now raring to go. There are 2 courses being run - one for parents/carers with children aged between 5 and 12 and one for children between 2 1/2 and 5. Contact Project 31 for more details and to book your place. Also our souvenir booklets have finally been printed they will be available free of charge from Cambuslang Institute and local libraries. On Wed 23rd of April at 7:30pm we will be holding our AGM in the Cambuslang Institute. Then on Sat May 10th we have the big “Spring Clean Up” so if you are free we’d love as many friends as possible to come along and give us a hand. On Sat 1st June we have the Stroll a Mile event with stalls and fairground games etc. and coming up on Wed 23rd July, bring along your Teddy Bear for our annual Teddy Bears Picnic all welcome so let’s see those Teddy Bears.
